The Diamond Saloon is a cinematic trip that’s ready for the big screen – the new concept album from Chasen Wayne & The Honky Tonk Machine. Set in Van Horn, Texas, the story follows brothers Ricky and Rex, owners of a barely surviving bar in the West Texas desert. Rex is stuck keeping the doors open, dreaming of something more, while Ricky chases the thrill of easy money, with little understanding of the danger waiting on the other side.
But this record is more than just a story. The band absolutely rips.. & it’s a wild ride.
A mostly intact lineup for the last few years, backed by extensive touring, has made this a tight, creative machine. They’ve thoughtfully orchestrated a theatrical soundscape that charges from start to finish – layers that dip, bop, sway and drive, constantly pushing the envelope.
The result is something bigger than a collection of country songs: it’s a West Texas crime story told through honky-tonk, rock, funk and Americana, where the geography, desperation and atmosphere become characters of their own.
